Watching @festival_aix Don Giovanni (live streaming now). Great singing but the unshaven and hangdog Don looks unsettlingly like Sir Digby Chicken-Caesar from That Mitchell & Webb Look. lascenenumerique.festival-aix.com/fr
I guess the problem I have with it isn’t the non-sequiturs of action v words, but the way that Giovanni is pathetic and needy while Anna is a scheming minx. Puts them out of character with their music.
Mark of a bad production is I’m listening + tweeting about it rather than watching it. It’s just really really confused. An idea for the “look” twisting everything out of shape.
