Again you’re left with the feeling that Brexiters don’t actually believe other countries exist, with citizens and laws and democracies.

EU generally has highest regulatory standards, so global companies align with those. Are UK diverged reg standards going to be even higher? twitter.com/tnewtondunn/st…
No, of course they aren’t. So look forward to a UK with lower internal standards (labour, environment, etc) and companies who still have
to align with EU standards for everything that they want to trade (so still rule taking). Plus EU trade deal will be less favourable.
(Before Andrew Neil gets on my case, EU regs being global standard setters isn’t just pro-EU guff. It’s a Thing.) scholarlycommons.law.northwestern.edu/cgi/viewconten…

Non-Brits in EU bubble, when they talk to me abt Brexit, hardly ever talk trade deal A50 technical stuff. Nope. Home Office horror stories.
It’s astonishing (and horrible) how much those human stories of lives and loves being disrupted have cut through. Even in the home of
law and process, people getting deportation threats is the face of Brexit now. Whatever happens trust of U.K. will be harmed for decades.

Trump thinks he met the Pres of the Virgin Islands (which is him) which prompts a thought: make Trump king. It would please his ego, he
could jet around and be in gold buildings a lot, but he would have no power and there’d be a PM doing all the deciding.
There would be a lot of hassle changing USA to UKA everywhere but that’s a one off

Present-day alignment is true but irrelevant unless UK is going to pass a self-denying deal saying it won’t stray from EU standards twitter.com/jillongovt/sta…
I don’t think this is a statement of future vision. It’s “we should have a good deal. Good deals are good.”
PH *might* be implying “and we’ll keep those rules aligned for the future” but that’s a huge thing, I’d be very surprised.
