Ten years tariff-free will surely mean ten years of following rules without power over them. Possibly ten years continued free movement. twitter.com/tommctague/sta…
And by 2029 things EU & politics as a whole will be totally different. Demographics mean leave majority probably gone.
So in summary, I can see why it’s attractive to civil servants but I can’t see the politics of it working in these crazy times.

We are burning so much with Brexit. Security, diplomatic capital, family lives all for a result that will satisfy a handful of ideologues.
I think if I hadn’t moved (and wasn’t half-Polish, thanks dad) I would just be permanently angry and dejected about it. Instead of mostly.
The worst of it is that the people who voted for it are going to be hit hardest by the result. Except the ideologues, of course.
And then we have straw-clutching “well it will give us new impetus to (do something we could have done before)”. Maybe. But at what price?

Without the model of peace, democracy, prosperity and human rights across the Iron Curtain, dissidents would have had no model.
The EEC/EU demonstrated that a different Europe was possible from that of the 19th century or the 1930s. Let’s not go backwards.
